Canterbury Rugby develops programs and initiatives for the good of the game which are aimed at key areas led by a NZR or a regional strategy.
They will traditionally provide for a broad-based approach rather than a bespoke opportunities that the foundation can easily provide.
Foundation funding will be complementary and an add-on to any provincial union funding.
The Foundation is also 100% focused on the community game. Not high performance or representative rugby, which is supported by Canterbury Rugby.
The intent of the Foundation is not to take away sponsors money from clubs. It is new money, donations or bequeaths.
Where a sponsor has a commitment to a club, we would encourage them to maintain that and any new funding to the Foundation can be specifically focused.

The Foundation is able to provide for bespoke requests and specifically targeted initiatives all being 100% Canterbury focused – it can be complimentary to other initiatives, but it’s also being set up to help fill any future gaps in funding as current forms change and adjust their strategies.

By donating, you are helping to invest in people, clubs, teams, whanau and community groups: strengthening the game of rugby at its very foundations, and helping to continue to keep rugby accessible to everyone. Funding will be used by community rugby groups and clubs for things such as equipment, infrastructure and travel.

The Canterbury Community Rugby Foundation is for providing additional funds to community organisations, for community-level rugby.
